This is a registered non profit society, that was started in 1989 by a group of women that had experienced PND who realised that there was no support service in the area.
Support workers are mainly last year counsellers from the NMIT. A therapy group is planned. |

Supporting families and children who live in the Nelson, Waimea, Motueka and Tapawera Areas so that children have the best possible start in life.
Family Start is a home based visiting programme that focuses on improving children's growth, health, learning and relationships, family circumstances, environment, and safety.
Family Start helps families and whanau who are struggling with challenges or problems that make it harder for them to care for their baby or young child.
For a referral, priority is given to families who are pregnant or have a child under one year of age. In exceptional circumstances, consideration will be given to families with a child up to two years of age.

Based in Blenheim, the trust runs a weekly therapy group and Stepping Stones, a peer support group for mothers experiencing Perinatal Distress.
Childcare is provided for the therapy group and it is facilitated by a registered family counsellor. Women can attend both or one at a time.
We also provide information, education, and can advocate for mothers. |
